About
Joshua Obara Norwood is an Ainu-Japanese British artist who is experimenting with printmaking and occasionally painting in oil. Previous work from 2023-22 explored heritage and identity, tackling Indigenous Ainu ancestry. At the same time, Obara Norwood’s current work documents life experiences and travels, creating ‘time-stamps’ of being in another place. Obara Norwood’s technique often changes and adapts while discovering more about life and heritage.
In addition to being an artist, Joshua Obara Norwood is the founder of the emerging Meta Space Gallery and publishes artist magazines under the titles Contrast and Material.
